Programmed to recede

This drawing marks a very special day. The day I go to see the premiere of the film I have been waiting for since I was 8.
After the film… Transformers just too… transformy?
I feel one of the (many) faults of the film was that the transformations were too complex. Just a blur of thousands of tiny moving components - rather than a few chunky clicks and shunts… I think if you compare the way they transform in the film an example like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AM74D1mFjN0, I think you’ll find the you tube clip a lot more realistic, believable and well.. at least you can see Prime transform without nodding off.
In the film, Prime’s arm for example looked like it was made of hundreds of tiny components which each contributed to changing his form - and a few times when he started talking small parts of his face were still transforming.
It was an enjoyable film but I’d probably never go to see it again or buy the DVD. Again it feels like the CGI guys were trying a little too hard.
But hey I only waited close to 20 years for this film, I’m not bitter.
